Contratti e Promesse Unilaterali: Rilevanza Attuale della Distinzione

The distinction between contracts and unilateral promises appears somewhat artificial, especially if we admit the possibility that unilateral promises can be binding, whenever appropriate to create reliance. In these conditions, the system may appear redundant; in particular, if we admit that unilateral promises can be binding in application of the principle of reliance, the Italian legal system needs no more unilateral contracts (art. 1333 c.c.).
